A trip to Agadir is all about spending time at the beach, wandering along the promenade, and chilling by the hotel pool with a good book while you work on your tan.
And we spent a good chunk of our month-long stay in the coastal city doing just that!
But we also found that Agadir is a great base to take day trips from, and we joined some fantastic tours which provided a mix of cultural experiences, thrilling activities, and trips to places that would otherwise be difficult to get to without our own car.
Some of these were in and around the Agadir itself, while others went further afield, but one thing’s for sure – if we’ve included it then we think it’s worth it!

How To Book Tours In Agadir?
One of the first questions we always have when visiting a new place is how best to book activities and excursions.
And we were happy to find that all the worthwhile tours in Agadir can be booked online through Get Your Guide, so this is exactly what we did for all of our excursions!
We’ve used Get Your Guide in several countries now and like the peace of mind that comes with a reputable company, as well as being able to read through the good, the bad, and the ugly reviews from other travellers.
We also like to plan, book, and pay for all of our tours online in advance, as not only does it help us stay organised, but makes working out how much cash we need to withdraw a bit easier!
Of course, like in many touristy destinations, you can also book tours directly with most hotels, and this is a good option if you like to book face-to-face. However, we tend to avoid this as they’re always a bit too pushy for us.

Some of the places (like Marrakech and Essaouira) are worth staying for a few days if you have the opportunity, but even just a day trip from Agadir will still give you a taste of what these cultural cities have to offer.

1. Quad Bike Desert Safari And Beach Tour
- Tour length: Half day
There’s a reason why quadbiking is one of the most popular tours in Agadir. And that’s because who isn’t excited by the idea of racing across the beach on four wheels, with towering sand dunes on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other?
So, of course it was one of the first tours we booked for our trip!
There are different quadbiking tours and providers to choose from, but after sifting through reviews and comparing prices and itineraries, we settled for this Quad Bike Desert Safari and Beach Tour.
And we had an absolutely fantastic time!
We were picked up at our accommodation in a comfortable minibus and driven about 45 minutes south to where the tour starts, and set up with full-face helmets, goggles, and of course, quad bikes.
In a single file, we were shown how to operate the quad bikes safely, and led by our guide, we had a quick practice run to make sure everyone felt comfortable and safe, before setting off along the smooth tarmac.
Soon, we were off-road, where it got bumpier, and finally, down onto the hard sand of the beach, which was the main (and best) part!
The vast beach was lined with magnificent sand dunes which were quite the scene! We then each had the chance (if you were brave enough) to get on the back with the tour guides who raced up, down, and around the huge dunes!
After the beach fun, we retraced our tracks back to the quad bike centre, via a small village where we enjoyed a tea and biscuits, before hopping on our minibus back to Agadir.
2. Sunset Sandboarding On The Timlalin Dunes
- Tour length: Half day
During our Agadir research, sandboarding was another activity that quickly became a must for our trip!
But we also wanted to take in a sunset on the Timlalin Sand Dunes, which overlook the Atlantic Ocean about an hour north of Agadir. So, we decided to kill two birds with one stone and book onto the afternoon departure of this Sandboarding Guided Experience and Canyon Visit.
Included in the 4-hour group tour was hotel pickup and drop off, a walk through a small rocky canyon on the way to the dunes, and quality boards to send it down the sandy slopes!
After being picked up and making a few stops for people in Anza, Tamraght, and Taghazout, we were well on our way towards the Timlalin Dunes, with one viewpoint stop along the way.
Finally, we pulled into the car park and were given one board between two and started our 30-minute hike towards the ocean, passing through the small canyon, before making our way up to the long sandy ridge.
And the scene was spectacular!
The soft late afternoon light created a beautiful ambience, and with an hour before the sunset, everyone eagerly set their boards ready for a first try at gliding down to the bottom of the dune!
While it’s more difficult than it looks, we still managed to surf to the bottom a few times! Even if it wasn’t quite as graceful as the pictures look!
After about an hour, we all sat on our boards along the ridge and watched the sun drop below the distant ocean horizon while music played from another group’s speaker, creating an upbeat yet relaxing experience in a special place!
This is definitely a top experience in Aagdir, but make sure to book the afternoon departure so you can enjoy the sunset vibe too!
3. Paradise Valley And Atlas Mountains Trip
- Tour length: Half day
A name like Paradise Valley would arouse curiosity anywhere, so it’s no wonder everyone is interested when they find out you can visit on a half-day trip from Agadir!
But after reading conflicting reports as to whether it really was a paradise or just another tourist trap, we decided to check it out for ourselves.
And we’re glad we did!
Located in the lower part of the High Atlas Mountains, Paradise Valley is about one hour inland of Agadir. The rocky canyon is filled with palm trees, fascinating rock formations and, depending on how much rain there has been, natural pools formed by a river that flows (or trickles) through.
But there are times when the majority of pools dry up, leaving just two large pools at the bottom of the canyon – no waterfalls, no pool-filled canyon, and nobody cliff jumping. This was the case during our visit at the end of a hot and dry summer, but the natural scenery, featuring huge palm trees, towering mountain ridges, and interesting rock formations, still made it a worthwhile trip!
We enjoyed a mix of exploring the canyon and chilling with a coffee around one of the two pools that were fresh and full, while letting the fish nibble on our feet!
But be warned, this isn’t a luxurious paradise. The facilities in Paradise Valley are stripped back to basics with simple restaurants and plastic chairs and tables – not like the fancy resort you may have come from in Agadir!
But luxury isn’t what Paradise Valley is about. Instead, it’s about appreciating and relaxing in the natural beauty of the valley.
We knew we’d need to join a tour to visit though, as it’s not easily accessible by public transport, so we joined this one and, while we could have stayed to relax even longer, we felt it was a perfectly balanced day out!
4. Hop Along The Coast To Taghazout
- Tour length: Half day / Full day
If there is only one town or city that you take a day trip to, make sure it’s the trendy surf town of Taghazout!
One of the most famous spots on Morocco’s Atlantic Coast, due to its world-class surf, Taghazout is only 30 minutes north of Agadir. This makes it one of the easiest day trips out of the city, and it’s a great place to soak up the laid-back surfer vibe that we love so much!
To get to Taghazout from Agadir, the best options are to either take a grand (shared) taxi from Place Salam in the city centre for 10 MAD per person (15 MAD in the evening), the L32 or L33 bus which also depart from Place Salam for 4 MAD, or a private taxi, which should cost around 150-200 MAD.
Or if you’d also like to visit the other towns of Tamraght and Imi Ouddar on the same day, this tour from Agadir gives you some free time in all three.
Once in Taghazout, you’re free to hit the main beach with its picturesque white-washed backdrop, grab brunch at Teapot Cafe, browse the surf shops for Taghazout t-shirts and merchandise, look out for colourful street art, or take a stroll along the promenade towards Tamraght.
If you’re sticking around until evening, then I’d recommend heading up to the Taghazout skate park for sunset, as it’s a fantastic vibe with crowds gathering to watch the advanced skaters put on a show – we even saw a rollerblader land a backflip, which was a first for us!
Or, if a sunset cocktail is more up your street, then head to somewhere like Dfrost Almugar Bohemian Berber Bar, which was our favourite – my Moscow Mule was delicious!

5. Agadir City Tour
- Tour length: Half day
Want to visit all the best attractions Agadir has to offer in one day without the hassle of getting taxis or buses between them all?
Then do what we did and join this Agadir city tour with Bob, one of the friendliest tour guides we’ve ever had!
But don’t forget your camera as the tour stops at all of the most picturesque places in the city! These include the stunning Agadir Medina, the impressive Grand Mosque (Mohamed V Mosque), and the epic viewpoint at the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella.
As well as these, we also stopped at Souk El Had, where we had free time to explore the thousands of market stalls, and an Argan Oil factory, where we learned about the traditional and modern processes of producing argan oil. We had already stopped at many of these Argan Oil shops on our tours throughout Morocco, and while it did feel like another tourist trap, at least this was one of the better ones we’ve visited!
Something to be aware of is that although Bob provided us with lots of information about Agadir during our tour and was happy to answer all of our questions, the stops themselves were not guided tours. Instead, we were given free time to explore the Medina, Souk, Mosque, and Kasbah independently.
Another thing to note is that there was only really enough time to enjoy the views at the kasbah, so we had to come back ourselves to explore the interior ruins. But this worked out well as it meant we got to also ride the Agadir Cable Car, which is also worth doing!
Overall, the city tour is a great way to efficiently use your time while getting to see the best places in Agadir!
6. A Guided Tour Of Souk El Had
- Tour length: Half day
Forget about set price tags and head to Souk El Had for a traditional shopping experience in one of Morocco’s biggest traditional marketplaces.
Here, it’s probably quicker to list the things you won’t be able to find!
Haggling culture in Souk El Had (and other traditional souks) is not only commonplace but expected. I know how daunting and awkward haggling can feel when it’s not normal in your country (I still don’t feel comfortable with it), but accepting the first price given to you in a souk is the equivalent of daylight robbery!
If you’re feeling confident enough, then there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t visit by yourself and have a go, but you can also join this Souk El Had Guided Tour, where a local guide will take you through the passageways, provide information about local products and crafts, and help you with prices, haggling, and finding specific goods, all while ensuring no one gets lost!
So, to enjoy the cultural souk experience without the stress of being overcharged and the awkwardness of haggling, as well as learning from local knowledge, a guided tour of Souk El Had is the best way to visit!

7. Taroudant Day Trip
- Tour length: Full day
After our first two trips to Morocco took us around cities in the north and east, it wasn’t until we got to Agadir during our third trip that the city of Taroudant came onto our radar.
And what we did hear about this city, its magnificent ramparts, stunning archway entrances, and its likeness to Marrakech (even earning it the nickname ‘Little Marrakech’) only encouraged us to add it to our Agadir itinerary!
So we looked into the four ways to get from Agadir to Taroudant, which are as part of an organised tour, on the CTM bus, with a private transfer, or by shared taxi. We opted for the CTM bus and booked return tickets on Bookaway as it gave us more time in Taroudant than the tour, and it felt more reliable for getting home than the shared taxis.
Good To Know: A tour gives you less time in Taroudant but also includes a stop at the epic Tiout Oasis!
Our bus departed Agadir at 9am, and our return left Taroudant at 5pm. This gave us around six hours to explore which was more than enough.
After a few hours wandering around Taroudant and taking in its sights, we found that while it was visually similar to Marrakech, with its consistent sand coloured buildings and striking city walls, the atmosphere was completely different. Taroudant had much more of a relaxed and local vibe, with nowhere near the level of intensity we experienced in Marrakech and Fes. It felt like Marrakech if you removed 95% of the tourists!
But I guess this is partly due to there not being nearly as many tourist attractions, which left us feeling satisfied with only one day in Taroudant. We managed to cover the main touristy things like walking around the ramparts, exploring the souk, admiring Fontaine Passage, and visiting the tannery, as well as having time to just sit with a coffee and watch the world go by.
Overall, it was a very satisfying and not too tiring day trip from Agadir!

8. Marrakech Day Trip
- Tour length: Full day
With sprawling alleys packed with history, exquisite examples of Moroccan architectural style at Bahia Palace and Ben Youseff Madrasa, and rooftop cafes where you can enjoy a mint tea or even a cocktail with a view, Marrakech is a cultural gem!
There’s a reason it’s the number one tourist destination in Morocco, and has pulled us back multiple times for more!
And the good news is that even during a holiday to Agadir, you can still join a tour which allows you to spend a day in Marrakech.
But, I won’t sugarcoat it, it’s a long day with a lot of driving – the journey is three hours each way plus breaks!
However, even though it’s a tiring day with an early start (and you’ll deserve a pool day after), the tour is worth it to get a taste of the sensory overload of the medina streets and a glimpse of the peach-coloured buildings and city walls!
On a tour like this one, you’ll be guided through the medina before having free time to browse in the souks, visit specific attractions, or just enjoy a mint tea on one of Marrakech’s famous rooftops.
Realistically though, unless you skip the guided tour, you’ll only have time to visit one of Marrakech’s main attractions. And if it were me, I’d choose the Ben Youseff Madrasa, which I can only describe as a beautiful masterpiece!

9. Essaouira Day Trip
- Tour length: Full day
The old town of Essaouira may also have narrow streets and souks to browse, but it’s a lot more relaxed compared to the chaos of Marrakech!
What we love most about Essaouira is the fortified medina’s location right on the coast with huge ramparts and historic canons that face out to sea!
From Agadir, it’s another early start with quite a bit of driving, but a day trip is possible. There are various tours you can book online via Get Your Guide, and this is what I’d recommend, as unless you have a rental car, the distance is too far for an independent day trip.
We’ve enjoyed two visits to Essaouira and were fortunate enough to stay for a few days each time, but if I were to choose a day trip from Agadir, I’d go for this one.
With a few stops on the way (and way back) which break up the driving, you still get plenty of time to wander the medina, walk along the ramparts, and visit the harbour, which is filled with the famous blue fishing trawlers!
And if you want a coffee recommendation, Pumpkin has the best in town and is conveniently located in the heart of the medina!

10. Crocoparc Guided Tour
- Tour length: Half day
Located in the neighbouring town of Drarga, just 20 minutes from the centre of Agadir, a day trip to Crocoparc is a great way to take a break from the pool or beach – even just for a couple of hours!
It’s also one of the easiest day trips. You can either take a taxi, catch the L5 bus to Drarga (and walk over), or join a tour which includes return transfers and a guide.
Once you’ve arrived at the park and entered through the massive crocodile head statue, you can join the queue for tickets (unless you purchase skip-the-line tickets online here) and then start on the trail that takes you around the botanical gardens and crocodile ponds.
The 325 Nile crocodiles that the park is home to were what we were most looking forward to seeing, but as we followed the trail, we also saw green iguanas, giant tortoises, marmoset monkeys, anacondas, and pythons!
Our highlights of Crocoparc, once we’d gotten over the thrill of seeing crocodiles with our own eyes, were watching them being fed, exploring the cactus garden, and seeing the anacondas and pythons up close in the snake cave!
But that’s not all, Crocoparc also has a zipline over one of the crocodile ponds, an escape room, a restaurant, kids’ play parks, a small documentary theatre, and plenty of educational information signs about the animals and plants!
A great day out for all ages!

11. 3-Day Sahara Desert Adventure
- Tour length: 3 days
If you ask me what my all-time favourite experience has been from all of our trips to Morocco, I’d have to say seeing the Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara Desert in Merzouga with my own eyes!
It’s one of the few times that I’ve truly been in complete awe!
Most people (including us) visit Merzouga, the gateway town to the Sahara, independently or on a multi-day tour from Marrakech, but you can also do a similar 3-day excursion from Agadir.
I’d recommend choosing a top-rated tour like this one with good reviews from other travellers, or a private tour if you prefer.
On this tour, you’ll travel to Tinghir via the picturesque mud-brick fort of Ait Benhaddou (another of our Morocco favourites) on the first day and then onwards to Merzouga via the epic Todra Gorge on the second. The sightseeing is phenomenal before you even reach the desert!
But the camel ride into the dunes of the Sahara to sleep under the stars and the following sunrise in the dunes definitely steal the show!
I still regard this as an experience of a lifetime, and I’m sure you will too!
